Campaigning with Sal Brinton for all local residents

Happy 1st birthday to a paving slab

7.15.54pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 16th Sep 2009

Sal Brinton, Prospective MP for Watford today met with local resident Pauline Shortland to discuss the failure of Hertfordshire County Council to fix a paving slab in Ganders Ash, Watford. Pauline reported the trip hazard slab in August 2008 to the Tory-run council, yet over a year later the paving slab still stands 5cm proud of the line of the pavement.

Sal said: 'When Pauline contacted me I was shocked at the blatant disregard shown to residents safety by Hertfordshire County Council. Pauline, since reporting this fault, has seen her friends, family and neighbours trip on this slab. Unfortunately she herself also tripped on it 6 months ago causing permanent damage to her elbow and knee.'

'We decided the best way make the County Council listen was to send them a birthday card, we just hope now that we have reported the slab again that it will be fixed and hope we do not need to send them a 2nd birthday card.'
