Campaigning with Sal Brinton for all local residents

Sal Brinton

Equitable Life a missed chance

10.22.57am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 22nd Oct 2009

On Wednesday, the Liberal Democrat opposition day in the House of Commons, the Liberal Democrats tabled a debate to start to right the wrongs of the Equitable Life scandal. The Pension Ombudsman found the government guilty of maladministration, and they have been slammed for consistently refusing to compensate the thousands of policyholders who lost their pensions and investments .

Sal Brinton said: 'Equitable Life customers from Watford have contacted me throughout this horrific scandal that has swindled them out of their money. My colleague Vince Cable has brought this debate to the floor of the House of Commons today. It is very disappointing, to say the least, that the Labour Government voted down the proposal, and yet again prevented justice from being done"
